Manuel Torres Aguilar

Biography

Manuel Torres Aguilar is Professor of History of Law and Institutions of the University of Cordoba (UCO) since 2002. He has been Vice-Rector of Coordination, Students, Teaching and Culture, between 2002 and 2013, and Dean of the Faculty of Law (1998-2002) of this same university. He is a university graduate of the Universities of Barcelona and Antonio de Nebrija, and a postgraduate diploma in armed conflicts, violent and crisis management by the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. His research lines are History of Criminal Law, Public Administration, Indian Law, and Conflictology, Geopolitics and Interculturality; as well as the legal regime of the Franco regime. Currently belongs to research group HUM 808 Social regulation and institutions in Andalusia. He has published five monographs and more than 30 articles and has directed seven research projects of the national plan, in addition to developing long-term research as a researcher at the University of Vienna (Austria) and the Italians in Catania and Perugia, the Virginia Commonwealth University, in Richmond (USA). He has also conducted several national and international congresses, conferences and seminars. He is also a member of the International Institute of Indian Law and the Academy of Messina, and secretary of the Yearbook of History of Spanish Law, edited by the Ministry of Justice. He is director at the UCO of the Unesco Chair in Conflict Resolution and the Interuniversity Master's Degree in Culture of Peace, Conflict, Education and Human Rights, which are also taught by the universities of Cadiz, Granada and Malaga. He has also been co-director of the European Master's Degree Storia e comparazione delle istituzioni politiche e giuridiche europee (Universities of Messina, Milan, Córdoba, Murcia and Autónoma de Barcelona). He is an evaluator of the National Evaluation and Prospective Agency (ANEP) in the area of ​​legal sciences, and has previously been a member of the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development (AECYD), as well as an external evaluation member of the Universities of the Junta de Castilla y León. 

Research Interest

His research lines are History of Criminal Law, Public Administration, Indian Law, and Conflictology, Geopolitics and Interculturality; as well as the legal regime of the Franco regime.
