Biography
I completed my PhD in 2009 (Thesis entitled: 'Public space in conflict: Place meaning as contested interaction and ideological action'; Supervisors: Dr. Enric Pol -University of Barcelona- and Dr. John Dixon -Lancaster University-). I am currently lecturer in social psychology, political psychology, cultural psychology and qualitative methods at the University of Barcelona. My research focuses on the discursive construction of people-place relations, with a specific interest in its ideological implications for the regulation of subjectivities and social life in public spaces. My work includes the critical exploration of citizenship construction as a locational practice, as well as the role of place-rhetoric in the reproduction of xenophobia and nationalism.
Research Interest
Critical discursive psychology, public space, power and subjectivity.
