Biography
Dr. José M. Miró has been Senior Consultant of Infectious Diseases at the Hospital Clinic – IDIBAPS of Barcelona since 2001. He is Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Barcelona, and Director of the MASTER on AIDS of the University of Barcelona. His research fields are focused on infective endocarditis (including the experimental model) and HIV/AIDS. In the latter he is doing the following research: Cohort studies, Primary HIV-1 infection, late presenters, tuberculosis and other opportunistic Infections, clinical trials with antiretroviral therapy and solid organ transplantation in HIV-1 infected patients. He was President of the “Spanish Working Group on AIDS” (GESIDA) from 1998 to 1999 and the “Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology Society of Catalonia from 2005 to 2006. Dr. Miro will be President of the Spanish Society of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology in 2013 and 2014. He is currently HIV/AIDS Editor of the Spanish Journal of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Microbiology (2002-14).
