Maren Lilian Müller

Biography

Maren Lilian Müller is Professor from Department of Plant Physiology at University of Barcelona. Her topic of interest is S Antioxidants, plant hormones, water stress, oxidative stress, senescence, plant aging.

Research Interest

Plant hormones play a pivotal role in several physiological processes during a plant’s life cycle, from germination to senescence, and the determination of endogenous concentrations of hormones is essential to elucidate the role of a particular hormone in any physiological process. Currently we developed a method to analyze 17 UPLC-MS/MS endogenous plant hormones including cytokinins, auxins, ACC (ethylene precursor), ABA, SA, JA and gibberellins. In addition of plant hormones our research group, conducted by Sergi Munné Bosch, investigates the role of antioxidants, carotenoids, flavonoids, phenolic diterpenes and especially tocopherols (α-, β-, γ-, δ-tocoferol, α-, β-, γ-, δ-tocotrienol, α-, γ-tocoferol quinone). Analyzing both the role of plant hormones and antioxidants (inter alia measurements), we hope to understand the mechanisms of plant resistance to water and / or oxidative stress, leaf senescence and plant aging.
