Biography

Paloma Miravitlles Matamoros holds an undergraduate degree and a Ph.D. degree in Economic and Business Sciences from the University of Barcelona. She has been a teacher at the Department of Economics and Business Organization at the UB since 1994, and a teacher consultant at the Open University of Barcelona since 2001. Her present research interest is the international strategy of industrial companies. She has participated in several studies, and published several papers on the Catalan industry and the presence of foreign multinationals, among them the papers entitled “Industrial strategies of foreign multinationals in Catalonia” (Department of Industry, Trade and Tourism, Catalan Government, 2001), “Analysis of the strategic role of the Catalan branches of foreign industrial multinationals and its possible economic impact” (Nota d’Economia, 2001), “Strategic roles of industrial multinational branches in Catalonia (ICADE, 2003), “The impact on Catalan economy of globalization and economic integration” (Economic and Social Council, 2005), “Analysis of the firms with foreign capital participation in the Spanish food industry” (Revista de Estudios Agrosociales y Pesqueros, 2006), “Is Catalonia losing industrial weight? An analysis from the perspective of business implementation” (Centre d’Economia Industrial, CEI, 2007). She is currently participating in two R+D+I competitive research projects of the Ministry of Education and Science.
