Biography
Xavier Roigé, new dean of the Faculty of Geography and History, specialized in Cultural Anthropology, holds a PhD in Geography and History by the University of Barcelona. He worked as a lecturer at the University of Lleida (1986-1992), and currently he is a permanent lecturer of Anthropology at the University of Barcelona. He has also been a visiting lecturer at the School for Advanced Studies in Social Sciences in Paris and at the University of Nice and Montpellier III. Moreover, he has given a great number of lectures at several universities in Spain, France, Italy and Quebec. He is member of the Research Group on Family and Kinship. He was awarded with the Caixa de Catalunya/Institut Català d’Antropologia Prize and the Pica d’Estats Prize. In museology, he has done some researches about ethnological museums, local museums, intangible heritage and musealization of historical memory. He has developed projects of exhibitions, museums and heritage management together with the Museum of the Vall d’Aran, the Ecomuseum of Valls d’Àneu, the Ethnological Museum of Montseny, and the Art Museum of Girona. On the field of family and kinship he has carried out some researches about home and family in Catalonia, the history of family, and the family transformations in Barcelona.
