Biography
Maria V. Aviles-Blanco, a Spanish economist, BSc in Economics by the University of Malaga, Spain, and in Economics and Public Policy by the Leeds Metropolitan University, UK. Master in Development Economics by the Institute of Social Studies in The Hague, Netherlands, and Master in Cooperation and Development by the University of Pavia in Italy. Her initial career as project coordinator for an emmergency and reconstruction project in Honduras led her to research on the socioeconomic determinants of health. She has worked as a researcher at UNRISD and has completed her PhD in the field of Behavioural Economics with a thesis on the influence on emotions in the monetary valuation of health. Currently, Maria V. is assistant professor at the Department of Financial Economics and Operations Management at the University of Seville and her research focuses on behavioural finance and investment.
