Biography
Dr. McAuley is originally from Massachusetts and returned to New England in 2012 after nearly 20-years spent in Washington DC and New York City. Since 2012, she has lived in Portland with her husband, son and toothless cat, "Josie". She enjoys the nearby lakes, hiking and snowshoeing as well as the offerings at Merrill Auditorium. While here at UNE, Dr. McAuley has engaged in Interprofessional Education & Collaboration and Service Learning. She is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of New England. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Vermont in 1994, a Masters of Education from George Washington University in 2005 and a Doctor of Physical Therapy from Touro College in 2010. She is a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy (2001 and renewed 2011) as well as a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists since 2007 under the mentorship of Dave Ziegler, PT, MS, FAAOMPT. Dr. McAuley has been involved in entry-level and post-graduate education since 1997 and continues to have passion for teaching and learning. She continues to be active in clinical practice, primarily working with persons with lumbopelvic-hip dysfunction and pelvic floor muscle dysfunction. Current teaching responsibilities include PTH 501 Foundations, PTH 504 Integrated Clinical Experience, PTH 508 Pathophysiology of the MSK System, PTH 510 PT Management MSK System, PTH 701 Pathophysiolgoy of Integumentary System, and PTH 703 PT Management Integumentary System.
Research Interest
Research Interests Evaluation of teaching and learning methods in physical therapy and patient education. Reliability and validity of examination tools used by musculoskeletal physical therapists. Interventions related to lumbopelvic-hip and pelvic floor muscle dysfunction.
