Ana M. Beltrán

Researcher
Materials Science
University of Seville
Spain

Biography

Dr. Ana M Beltrán graduated in Chemical Engineering at the University of Cádiz (Spain) (2006) where she also performed her PhD work obtaining the Doctor degree in December 2009 on the subject “Effect of antimony incorporation in the nanostructure of III-V/III-V quantum dots”. From October 2010 to August 2012 she was post-doctoral researcher at the Laboratoire d’Analyse et d’Architecture des Systèmes and Centre d’Elaboration de Materiaux et d’Etudes Structurales of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (LAAS-CNRS and CEMES-CNRS, respectively) in Toulouse (France), under a research project co-funded within the Programme Inter Carnot Fraunhofer (PICF 2010) and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) on the German side and by the Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR) on the French side. After that, she worked at the Center for Nanoanalysis and Electron Microscopy (CENEM) of the Friedrich-Alexander Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (Germany) where she focused on the characterization of porous materials by electron tomography. From March 2015, she performs her work at the Materials Science Institute of Seville (ICMS, Spain) financed by the Andalucia Talent Hub Fellowship from the Junta de Andalucía and the European Commission under the Co-funding of the 7th Framework Program in the People Program.

Research Interest

Her research activities have been focused on the structural and compositional characterization of different nanomaterials by advanced scanning-transmission electron microscopy techniques at nano-scale, including electron-tomography for different types of materials (semiconductor, MOSFETs, catalyst). Her recent research activity is centred on the project Application of advanced electron microscopy techniques to the characterization of nanostructured coatings for clean energy applications. She focuses on the analysis, up to the nanoscale, of the microstructure and chemical behavior of nanostructured thin films and coatings for clean and sustainable energy applications in order to find out the relationship between the microstructure, the growth conditions and the final behavior and properties of the materials with the final goal of developing improved materials.
