Donald J. Stierman
Associate Professor
Geophysics

Biography
He specializes in shallow applications of geophysical methods: find the leak in the landfill, map the top of bedrock concealed by sediment, image the subsurface at archaeological sites. University of Toledo seismographic station UTO, the longest continuously operating seismograph in the state of Ohio, is under his supervision. Recent projects include mapping the Liberty Crater, a meteorite crater hidden under the tills of northwest Ohio, geophysical studies at the Talgua, Honduras and Sheridan Cave, Ohio archaeological sites, and geophysical reconnaissance of the Golfo Dulce, Costa Rica area. During the summer of 2002, he was participating in research at the Fostoria waste-water treatment plant. New instruments enabled to begin researching the King Road Landfill and Oak Openings sand belt in 2003.
