Biography
Dr. Rafael Toledo was born in Valencia, Spain in 1966. He received a PharmD degree from the University of Valencia, Spain in 1989 and a PhD in Parasitology and Immunology from the University of Valencia, Spain in 1992. He is currently an Associate Professor of Parasitology in the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Valencia. He began working on trematode biology and systematics, with emphasis on echinostomes. During his post-doctoral stage at the University of Puerto Rico, USA he focused on immunological aspects of host-parasite interactions. Currently, his research is focused on the immunological interactions is the experimental model Echinostoma-rodent and other intestinal helminth infections. He has written and/or edited more than 100 works including original research articles in peer-reviewed journals, reviews, book chapters, and books more than 100 communications to national and international scientific meetings. Currently, he is member of the Spanish Society of Parasitology (SEP), Spanish Society of Immunology (SEI), Spanish Society of Tropical Medicine and International Health (SEMTSI) and American Society of Parasitologists (ASP). His areas of expertise include Parasitology, Molecular Biology and Immunology.
