María De Los Reyes Alcala Medina

Biography

 Graduated in Medicine in 2008 by the Complutense University of Madrid, she soon became interested in the problems of patients beyond her physical illnesses, and soon she was inclined to mental disorders. He decided to do the specialty of Psychiatry, in order to be a psychotherapist, to help people in their mental health problems and in the personal, family and social difficulties related to them. During the four years of MIR training at the Hospital Clínico San Carlos in Madrid she was supervised by psychiatrist and psychotherapist Diego Figuera Álvarez, acquiring theoretical and practical skills in brief psychodynamic therapy and discovering the amazing capacity of the mind to change through relationships . To formalize and expand his knowledge he studied two years of specialization in Integrative Psychotherapy at the University of Alcalá de Henares (2010-2012). He has also spent three months in Barcelona learning more about family psychotherapy at the School of Family Therapy at Santa Creu i Sant Pau Hospital. During the residency he has also carried out the course of Expert in Emergencies in Mental Health (2009-2010, University of Alcalá de Henares), Has written and collaborated in numerous clinical cases for resident books, and has participated in a research study on dynamic psychotherapy in patients with borderline personality disorder, at the Hospital Clínico San Carlos. He has also attended numerous congresses and continuing education courses on the specialty, with special interest in those related to psychotherapy and the latest advances in the knowledge of severe mental disorder. After obtaining his Psychiatry Specialist (2013), he worked for one year as an assistant psychiatric emergency physician at the Alcorcón Foundation University Hospital, an activity that he combined with his work in the private practice Miguel Ángel 4 and as a Therapeutic Link collaborator. At the same time, it continues to carry out continuing education activities, having obtained in 2014 the Diploma in Operational Psychodynamic Diagnosis (OPD-2), awarded by the Universidad Pontificia Católica de Chile and the University of Heidelberg (Germany); And currently studying the Master in Neurosciences at the Universidad Miguel de Cervantes (Valladolid).
