Biography
Gregg J. Powers joined Alere’s Board in August 2013 and became Chairman of the Board in May 2014. He also serves as a member of the Nominating and Governance Committee. Mr. Powers has served as the Chairman of Private Capital Management, an institutional investment management firm, since 2009 and as that firm’s Chief Executive Officer since 2008. Mr. Powers joined Private Capital Management in 1988 and served in a number of roles with that firm, including as its President, before assuming his current positions. In addition to his duties as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Private Capital Management, Mr. Powers also serves as a portfolio manager for that firm and oversees all aspects of the investment of client portfolios. Since August 2013, Mr. Powers has served as a director of Quantum Corporation, a data protection and management company, where he serves on the Corporate Governance and Nominating Committee.
