Biography
Mr. Alexander Brown was the founder for Astron Ltd., born and well educated in New Zealand. In 1964, Alex started his career as a farm Management Consultant in Western Australia, involved in construction and subsequently set up his own steel fabrication business. In 1982, he expanded his business into mineral exploration and mining, designing and developing the Horseshoe Lights Gold Mine at Meekathara, W.A. which was listed on Australian Stock Exchange as Australian Mining Investments Ltd. This Company then in 1985 acquired and expanded the Gunnedah Coal Mine in NSW, completed the design, feasibility study and approvals for the Glennies Creek Coal project in Hunter Valley which sponsored the formation of Astron. In 1986, Astron successfully drilled for oil and gas in Thailand and the U.S.A. He also operated in Malaysia and later this business was transferred to a Chinese company. In 1987, Astron began its business in China. His advanced management experiences from overseas were combined with rapidly developing market in China to build up Astron China to be one of the biggest zircon chemical product producers in the world. In the 2009 BRW magazine in Australia, Mr. Brown was listed on the 33rd of the Rich List of Top 200 ASX Listed company executives.
