Three years of working experience as a research student in project “Development of tissue culture protocols for mass production of endemic aquatic ornamental plants in Sri Lanka, from 1998 to 2000, funded by Council for Agriculture Research and Policy (CARP). One year working experience in the field of functional food biotechnology at National Food Research Institute (NFRI), Tsukuba, Japan, Under COSTED/JICA programme from 2001 to 2002. Maintained the plant tissue culture lab at ITI from 2003 to 2008. A Co-investigator of the project “Upliftment of Kithul industry to meet challenges at local and export market' from 2003 to 2004, funded by Ministry of Rural Industries.
Technology development for underutilized Palms (Caryota urens –Kithul, Borassus flabellifer –Palmyrah). Investigation on bioactive properties of traditional foods and medicinal plants. Novel approaches in separating bioactive compounds from traditional medicinal mixtures.
