Joint Coordinator, MSc programme in Disaster Management (conducted in association with ADPC, Thailand; ITC, Netherlands and Pacific Disaster Center (PDC) Hawaii and Postgraduate Institute of Science (PGIS), University of Peradeniya. Director- Postgraduate Institute of Science, University of Peradeniya (1997-2003). Chairman- National Science Foundation (1997-2001). Director, Science Education Unit, University of Peradeniya (1989-93). Deputy Director, Institute of Fundamental Studies (1985-91). Head- Department of Geology, University of Peradeniya(1981-85; 1991-93; 1994-97). President, University of Peradeniya Alumni Association 1997/9.
Research Interest
Natural Disasters (landslides and tsunami); Sediments and sedimentary rocks in Sri Lanka; Gem-bearing Sediments; Sediments with glacial origin.
