PhD : University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada (1985); BSc : University of Colombo (1978).
Research Interest
Taxonomy and search for new lichen species from Sri Lanka. Isolation of biologically active natural products from tropical lichens and endemic plants. Study of insect-lichen interactions. Synthesis of dibenzofuran lichen products from common depsides. Chemistry of endemic Annonaceae species. Synthesis of porphyrin photosensitizers and their application in the control of disease causing mosquito larvae. Application of singlet oxygen generators in the abatement of common pollutants.
