Biography
Dr. Dileepa de Croos obtained his first degree on Zoology (special) from the University of Colombo. He completed his PhD at the University of Iceland in 2011. His dissertation work investigated the application of population genetic information for fisheries management, further he showed the effect of “unnatural selection” (selective harvesting) and its implications for sustainable resource management in western Sri Lankan shrimp fishery.

Marine biology and Bio diversity: with special reference to crustaceans, teleost, and jelly(fish) • Fisheries management: sustainable coastal fisheries, traditional ecological knowledge; traditional fisheries management and livelihoods Fisheries ecology: life history and ecology of target and bycatch species; and effects of marine debris Seaweeds and value added product development Population genetics empowering communities with new technologies
