She Graduated in 1993 with B.Sc.(Special) degree in Physics from University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka. She Completed M. Sc. in Agriculture Engineering from University of Peradeniya in 1995. She Joined with the Solid State Ionics research group of Department of Physics, University of Peradeniya in 1995 and started research career on solid polymer electrolytes under the supervision of Prof. M.A.K.L. Dissanayake and Dr. P.W.S.K. Bandaranayake. In 1996, she awarded a fellowship by the International Programme for Physical Sciences, Uppsala, Sweden for a period of two years to carry on the Ph.D. studies at the Institute of Chemistry, Technical University of Denmark . She Completed the Ph.D. with the title “Solid Polymer Electrolytes based on Polyacrylonitrile and Organically Modified Ceramics” in the year 2000. Joined to Department of Electronics, Wayamba University of Sri Lanka in 2003 as a Senior Lecturer. She Received merit promotion to the post of Professor in the year 2014.
