Biography

Mr. Anton Newbury serves as a Senior Executive Director at Athena Capital (Pty) Ltd. Mr. Newbury joined Athena Capital in early 2013 and is jointly responsible for deal origination, negotiation and execution and leads Athena Capital’s deal executive team together with Mr. Jonathan Heinamann. He served as a Non Executive Director of Barloworld Transport Solutions. He served as a Director of Private Equity Business for five years at Brait Private Equity. He joined Brait in 1999. Mr. Newbury’s responsibilities included the full range of transaction execution and support activities. He has previously worked for three years with Safren Ltd in the Corporate Development Division, where he was responsible for investment negotiation, investment in new initiatives and execution, development of the group, corporate finance, and managed the unbundling and delisting of the group. Prior to Safren, his commercial career began in international commodity trade where he worked for global trading companies, Mitsui & Co.
