Biography
As Chairman of the Global Emerging Markets Committee, Rajiv's responsibilities include connecting emerging markets with developed markets, ensuring that emerging markets' voice is considered in key decisions, and recommending investment plans for the emerging markets. Rajiv is also the Chairman & Regional Managing Partner of the India Region — which includes Bangladesh — and a member of the Global Executive. Previous experience Rajiv joined EY in the mid-1980s. He has worked in EY India’s Tax and Assurance practices and in the Corporate Finance practice in Singapore. In the mid-1990s, he established EY India’s market-leading Transaction Advisory practice. In 2004, Rajiv was appointed CEO and Country Managing Partner for India. Rajiv is active with many clients, principally fast-growing Indian entrepreneurial organizations, private equity funds and global organizations establishing or expanding their presence in India. Rajiv has been a member of the Emerging Markets Committee since 2011. Working with the other Emerging Markets Regional Managing Partners, he has promoted strong collaboration between these markets, particularly in Advisory and M&A services in the Middle East, the Commonwealth of Independent States and Africa.
Research Interest
Rajiv is affiliated with many prominent business and industry associations, including the World Economic Forum’s New Asian Leaders. Rajiv is a member of the National Council of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Chairman of its National Committee on Tax. The Indian Government appointed Rajiv to the Ministry of Finance Committee to simplify the provisions of the Income Tax Act, and to the Ministry of Railways Advisory Body to modify the accounting system for tracking expenditure to desired outcomes. In 2016, Rajiv was appointed to the Board of the Indian Institute of Management, Sirmaur. Rajiv has been instrumental in creating the EY Foundation in India and driving its programs in education, environment, rural empowerment and micro-entrepreneurship for women.
