Biography
Dehua Pei, Ph.D., Professor, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, The Ohio State University Dehua Pei is a Professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry at The Ohio State University. His group is currently developing novel methodologies in combinatorial chemistry and applying them to discover new protein-protein interactions during cell signaling, identify the protein substrates of signaling enzymes (kinases and phosphatases), and develop macrocyclic inhibitors against previously undruggable targets, such as protein-protein interactions. His earlier research also involved the mechanistic studies of bacterial enzymes and the synthesis of enzyme inhibitors as antibacterial agents. Dr. Pei obtained his B.S. degree in chemistry from Wuhan University, China and a PhD degree in organic chemistry from University of California, Berkeley. Prior to joining the faculty at Ohio State, he was a Damon Runyon-Winchell Walter Cancer Fund postdoctoral fellow at Harvard Medical School.
