Biography
Jan Kihlberg, Ph.D., Professor, Organic Chemistry, Uppsala University Jan Kihlberg holds a chair in Organic Chemistry at Uppsala University, Sweden since 2013. His key research interests are to understand what properties convey cell permeability and target binding to compounds outside of the rule of 5, as well as studies of the chemical biology of glycopeptides, peptides and their mimetics. He has published 150 peer-reviewed publications, book chapters and patents. Prof. Kihlberg spent 10 years at AstraZeneca R&D Molndal first as Director of Medicinal Chemistry, then as Director of Competitive Intelligence and Business Foresight Analysis. He became Professor in Organic Chemistry at Umea University in 1996 after having established his research group at Lund Institute of Technology in 1991. He did a postdoc with Prof. David Bundle at the National Research Council Canada, in Ottawa after having obtained a PhD in Organic Chemistry at Lund Institute of Technology in 1988.
