Biography
Dr. Henrik Leion is Associate Professor at the division for Chemistry and Biochemistry in the field of Chemical-looping combustion (CLC) and gasification. Henriks research focus is development of new oxygen carriers and investigation of the chemical reactions of fuel and oxygen carriers in CLC and gasification. CLC is a technique to separate out carbon dioxide during combustion. A metal oxide is used as oxygen carrier and is circulated between two reactors, taking up oxygen in one reactor and releasing it to the fuel in the other, creating a pure stream of carbon dioxide from the fuel reactor. In gasification the oxygen carriers can be used convert the tars, or other species, or as a catalyst for the gasification reaction. Henrik is currently the supervisor for five PhD students.
