Biography
A veteran in the industry, Dr. Walker was instrumental in transforming the Plant and Industrial Products Division of ValiGen, which he was head of, into what is now Cibus and led the company until he retired in July 2014. Prior to this, Dr. Walker held a variety of management positions at the Mycogen Corporation, and worked at Agrigenetics Inc. prior to its acquisition by Mycogen. He was also a co-founder, director and vice president of research at Plant Genetics, Inc. (PGI). Dr. Walker served in a variety of research capacities with Monsanto Co. before this and was a former vice chairman (1985) and chairman (1987) of the Gordon Conference in Plant Cell and Tissue Culture. Dr. Walker was also associate editor of Plant Cell Tissue and Organ Culture Journal. He received his PhD in biology from Yale University and is a graduate of the College of Wooster.
