Biography
Helena Holmström Olsson is a senior lecturer at the Department of Computer Science at Malmö University. Helena disputed 2004 at the Department of Applied IT at the University of Gothenburg. In her research, and within the Software Center, Helena works in close collaboration with companies that develop software in telecom, transport, defense industry and surveillance etc. Her research focuses on agile methods, the organizational processes behind technology development, and the ways in which major software-changing companies change, improve and constantly renew their processes to maintain competitiveness in a tough market. Of particular interest is the way in which these companies use customer and product data as the driving force for innovation, ie the way in which both end-user feedback and automatically generated product data can be collected, analyzed and used as a basis for enhancing existing functionality as well as a basis for developing future, new functionality. Another major research interest is 'software ecosystems', ie the development we see in that value creation is increasingly based on interaction and interaction between a number of players and that companies increasingly need strategies to handle this interaction and this interaction. In her research, Helena helps a number of companies how they can position themselves in the different ecosystems they operate, what mechanisms they can use to interact with others, and how they can strategically stimulate cooperation while remaining in a competitive situation with other actors. Helena is also in charge of a research area in the context of a large KK profile - 'Internet of Things And People', where she, along with a number of researchers, studies the user influence and the different types of data collection that are made possible in a world of connected products.
