Yama is the Professor/Head of the Pediatric Surgery Department, and the Director of the Perinatal Medical Support Centre at Juntendo University　School of Medicine, Tokyo, Japan. He is also the Visiting Co-Professor of the Department of Gastrointestinal and Pediatric Surgery at Tokyo Medical University, Tokyo, Japan.
