Research Interest

Anna Lessmark research interest in studying parent-of-origin effects, where the effect of an allele depends on which parent it is inherited from. Transmissions from one parent could confer risk for a disease to the offspring, whereas from the other parent, it may be neutral or even protective. Anna Lessmark main goal is to investigate parent-of-origin specific effects of previously reported lipid and blood pressure associated SNPs in families. Additionally, considering the clustering of these traits in the metabolic syndrome, we would like to study parent.of-origin effects of these SNPs in families with T2D, as well as in relation to obesity, glucose and insulin related traits.
