Biography
Michael Alvarsson is a chief physician and head of physicians at the Department of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Diabetes at Karolinska University Hospital and an Associate Professor at Karolinska Institutet. Doctor Alvarsson has extensive experience from clinical studies in type 2 diabetes having served as the principal investigator for numerous multinational clinical studies. He has also served as the Scientific Secretary of the Swedish Society of Diabetology. Dr Alvarsson’s clinical interests include FFA treatment of type 2 diabetes, diabetic nephropathy and treatment of cardiovascular risk factors at diabetes. His research interests include pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome in type 1 diabetes.
