Biography
Mr. Schäfer holds a degree in applied biology and an Executive Education Certificate from the St. Gallen Management Seminar for Small-to-Medium-Sized Enterprises. Prior to joining GATC Biotech in 1999, he spent 11 years as a research assistant in the plant biology field both at the University of Erlangen and at the University of Wuppertal, Germany. His main achievements as responsible for the sequencing group at GATC Biotech include the establishment and optimisation of the company’s lab process automation, logistics services, the online platform myGATC, as well as overall business presence in the Sanger field. He was also the project leader for the addition of new lab sites in London and Düsseldorf, as well as for the centralisation of Sanger production in Cologne due to logistic improvements. In 2007, Mr. Schäfer was promoted to Director Custom Sequencing. Since 2016 Mr. Schäfer as Senior Director Sales and Customer Care is responsible for the whole Sales and Customer Care Team
