Biography
Inês Sousa attended Universidade Nova de Lisboa Medical School, where she worked as an invited monitor in the Physiology Department using models of excitable cells. During a master’s program in neurosciences at Lisbon University, she strengthened her interest in brain development and genetics, undertaking research on visual neuronal streams in Williams syndrome patients. She is a specialist in paediatrics and during her training she has focused on paediatric neurology, neurodevelopment, endocrinology and genetics and has worked as an invited assistant of paediatrics at Algarve University. She has attended the Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência PhD program in integrative biology and biomedicine, graduating in 2014, and is now a PhD research fellow at Radbout University Nijmegen Medical Center.
Research Interest
She is interested in Drosophila models for neuropsychiatric disorders.
