Astrid Hedin

Biography

Astrid Hedin is a political scientist with a focus on organizational theory, international organizations, political theory and transnational European postwar history. She is currently studying the Swedish model as 'entangled history'. Hedin has previously researched how the Communist regimes were maintained through political control of communication with the outside world (post-doc projects), and on organizational change following the democratization of the DDR (dissertation). Astrid Hedin studied at Lund University in 2001, became a lecturer at Uppsala University in 2009, and spent three years as the post-doc of the Swedish Research Council at Stanford University in the United States. In the spring and summer of 2012 she was Anna Lindh fellow at The Europe Center, Stanford University. Astrid Hedin is a lecturer at Global Political Studies since 2011, Coordinator of Political Science, Member of the Faculty's Advisory Board of Appointments, and temporary staff in the fall of 2015 as a Research Coordinator for GPS. Teaching: Globalization and Welfare State, International Organizations, Political Organization and Governance, Scientific Crafts, Qualitative Method, IR and Methods, IR Tendencies and Problems. Hedin has previously developed and taught courses, including comparative European politics, and non-democratic regimes at Uppsala University, and Qualitative Political Methodology at Lund University.
