Ian Purdy

Biography

Ian Purdy, PhD, joined Haemonetics in March 2017 as Senior Vice President, Global Quality and Regulatory Affairs. He is responsible for Haemonetics' global quality programs and regulatory product approvals and agency relationships. Dr. Purdy has over 20 years of experience in medical devices and diagnostics spanning all regions of the world, along with extensive experience in new product submissions, most especially in China, Europe, Japan and the US. Most recently, he was Vice President, Clinical Regulatory and Quality Compliance at Thermo Fisher Scientific since 2012. He was responsible for the oversight and coordination of worldwide regulatory and quality compliance, overseeing a team of 2,500 employees at more than 100 global sites. He also held numerous clinical, regulatory and quality roles of increasing scope at Boston Scientific between 2000 and 2012, playing a critical role in ensuring regulatory and quality excellence for innovation-based products. He began his career working in clinical research at Smiths Medical. Dr. Purdy holds a PhD in Human Physiology (Haemodynamics) from the University of Southampton in the UK, an expertise that is highly relevant to many of our products and programs.
