J. D. Patil

Biography

Mr. J D Patil is a Whole-time Director, and Senior Executive Vice President for L&T’s Defence Business. He is an alumnus of IIT Mumbai, having pursued M. Tech (Mechanical Engineering) in 1978. He has had a rich, nearly four decade long career in L&T, and has been instrumental in growing the nascent Technology and Product Development Group of L&T’s corporate R&D with a focus on top end inter-disciplinary Product Development. During the first decade of his career, Mr. Patil was a member of a core team that designed and developed super heavy rotating industrial machinery systems for Cement, Chemical, Fertilizer, & Mineral processing plants. A few of these were the largest in South East Asia, and with contemporary technologies, generations ahead of those in India, with far more efficiency built from design, and in league with best in the world.
