Biography
Jetro Pocorni obtained his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering at the Anton de Kom University of Suriname (South America) in January 2010. He received his master's degree in August 2012 in mechanical engineering at the University of Twente in the Netherlands. During his thesis which was conducted at the laboratory of Mechanical Automation and Mechatronics within the chair of Applied Laser Technology, he studied the monitoring and control of the penetration depth in laser welding by measuring plasma emissions with a spectroscopic sensor. From November 2012 Jetro is employed as a PhD student at the Product and Production Development division of Luleå University of Technology. His current research is in experimental observation of the laser cutting process using a high speed imaging camera. With the help of image processing and computer vision algorithms the captured high speed videos are then analyzed to observe and characterize particle and melt flow behavior of the cut front. Besides online monitoring of the laser cut process Jetro also conducts his work in material & chemical analysis of the laser cut samples- this includes SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) and optical metrology (surface roughness analysis) of the laser cut edge. To store all of these acquired data a database has been created which includes industrial state-of-the-art laser cut analysis from Bystronic Laser AG in Switzerland. In spring 2016 Jetro worked as a guest researcher at KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) for four months in the research group of Professor Suck-Joo Na.
