Biography
After completing her studies in Industrial Design at Luleå University of Technology, Asa jumped directly into business by managing projects and courses. Åsa has previously worked as an shop interior designer, decorator and graphic illustrator/designer. Her teaching mainly focus on design methods, participatory design, form and gestalt, sketching, graphic design, ergonomics, 3D modeling, norm creative innovation and supervision of project courses and thesis projects. Asa is also Director of Studies for program courses in Industrial Design Engineering (BSc and MSc), Graphic design (artistic candidate) and Architecture (MSc). Over the years, she has participated in a variety of interdisciplinary research projects focusing on e.g. participatory design, creativity, norm creative innovation, health, and user experience. A big interest is pedagogics, how people learn and how education can be planned and operated to maximize learning. Åsa defended her PhD in Industrial Design in 2012 with the dissertation Re-thinking designing. She is a member of the Swedish Levi Award, which aims to reward and recognize people who develop work environments and the relationship between health, well-being, and efficiency. Åsa is former Chair for Swedish Design Research Network, member of The Swedish Design Faculty, and Chair for the north region of Swedish Society of Crafts and Design (Svensk Form).
