Biography
Anders Hast received a University certificate in Computer Technology 1988 at the University of Gävle and after that he was working with Fortran and Cobol programming in technical and administrative systems in the industry. In 1996 he received a Bachelor of Science degree at University of Gävle. From then the main interests were mathematics and graphics. In 2002 he got his Licentiate from Uppsala University and in 2004 he received a PhD in Computerized Image processing at the same university. Besides computer graphics and mathematics, parallel programming and visualization were also important parts of his PhD studies. He continued doing research in computer graphics algorithms and teaching mainly at the University of Gävle, where he during four years was emplyoed half time as a teacher and researcher (associate professor). The other part of the employment was mainly at UPPMAX (Uppsala University) as a senior research assistant and application expert in scientific visualization.He also worked part time at the University in Linköping as associate professor. In 2010 he was appointed Docent (associate professor) in Computerized Image Processing at Uppsala University, which is a sort of second PhD degree in Sweden. In 2011 he spent one year at IIT, CNR, Pisa in Italy as an ERCIM fellow and after that he received a full time position as associate professor at Uppsala University, once again he is also employed part time at UPPMAX. Since then he is a research associate at IIT, CNR, Pisa, Italy. In 2014 he bacme an Excellent teacher at Uppsala University. He was first director of studies and later director for Swedish eScience Education between 2013 and 2016. Since january 2017 his research is mainly focused on handwritten text recognition.
