Biography
Smart Eye was founded in 1999 with the vision that eyetracking one day would permeate all communication between man and machine. Today, we see the world facing the one that is sometimes called the fourth industrial revolution: after steam, oil and IT, artificial intelligence now comes. Now we are close to the smart community where autonomous cars are just an example of how Smart Eyes vision can be realized. Through Eyetracking and AI, we make the world safer. Eyetracking is no longer just exciting research, but we see how technology is heading out into people's everyday lives. Eyetracking is built into passenger cars and creates a new, higher level of road safety. Eyetracking in passenger cars enables a range of functions where the most important is autonomous driving. The development of self-propelled cars goes step by step where the vehicle is handling an increasing proportion of driving, but where the driver still needs to handle certain situations. Eyetracking is the tool that can ensure that the driver is alert and attentive. Smart Eye has taken great steps from being a research-oriented development company to deliver products for the mass market, much thanks to successful funding. This has given us the opportunity to grow and recruit salespeople, developers and researchers. The market has developed strongly during the year in both Aviation and Automotive. Assessments show that sales of research instruments in these areas have increased by ten percent. Development is fast and technology driven, and is based on increasing security needs. Within Automotive, passive safety with active safety is now being completed. Previously, security has been about building better roads and vehicles, while the new technology focuses on man. The potential is huge. Eyetracking technology will be available in all cars and be as obvious as the three-point belt is today. Applied Solutions Within the Applied Solutions business area, we work closely with the automotive industry and have chosen to focus on responding to the industry's great interest in and high demands for eyetracking. The huge demand has led us to reallocate resources internally. As a result, the Applied Solutions business area increased its sales by 80%. Research Instrument Within the Research Instrument business area, we offer advanced eyetracking systems for human behavior analysis. The business has largely gone according to plan, but we note a slightly reduced market share. The decline is a result of strengthening Applied Solutions with sales and development resources. The successful funding made it possible to recruit to compensate and strengthen efforts in sales and research and development. business A third interesting area is business development where we, together with partners, develop new platforms and systems. One of the companies we work with is the Swedish Neonode that develops optical touch controls. Together we develop multimodal interfaces for a platform prepared for AI. Staff It is Smart Eyes competent staff that enable us to grow and deliver in the projects we are involved in. The competencies of employees also mean that Smart Eye is perceived as an outstanding and exciting company where other specialists want to work. I would therefore like to thank you all very much because we are well on the way to making the world safer through eyetracking and AI.
