Biography
Prof. Lars Samuelson is the Director of NanoLund (formerly Nanometer Structure Consortium), founded in 1988, which is the primary center for nanoscience in Sweden. Lars is a Fellow of the Institute of Physics, FInstP in the United Kingdom, a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (Kungl. Ingenjörsvetenskapsakademien, IVA) and also a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences (Kungl. Vetenskapsakademien, KVA) which awards the Nobel Prizes in Chemistry and Physics each year. In 2008, he was named “Einstein Professor” by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Lars is the author of more than 600 articles in refereed journals, and has given about 250 plenary/invited talks at international conferences and workshops. He has been named by a leading journal as the most prolific European contributor to scientific journals in the nanowire field for the last decade and among the top five worldwide. Lars has also co-funded the nanotechnology companies GLO and QuNano. He received his Ph.D. in Solid State Physics at Lund University in 1977.
