Biography
Axel C. Heitmann joined the Sulzer Board of Directors in 2016. Currently, he is member of the Board of Directors of a family holding and Senior Advisor to H.I.G. Capital, United Kingdom. He served as Chairman of the Board of Management (CEO) of Lanxess AG, Germany (2004 – 2014). Previously, he held various international leadership positions within Bayer AG. He was member of the Executive Committee of Bayer Polymers AG and responsible for the Asia-Pacific region based in Shanghai (2002 – 2004). Further, he was Head of the Rubber Division of Bayer AG (2001), where he was responsible for its integration into the newly formed Bayer Polymers AG. Prior to 2001, he held various international management positions within the Bayer Group such as CEO of Wolff Walsrode AG, Head of Manufacturing of PolymerLatex, and Site Manager at Bayer plc, UK. Amongst others, he served as President of the Committee for Foreign Trade of the Bundesverband der Deutschen Industrie (BDI), member of the Asia Pacific Committee of German Business (APA), member of the Presidential Council of the German Chemical Industry Federation (VCI), member of the Presidential Council of the German Asia-Pacific Business Association (OAV), and member of the Advisory Board of the NRW.Bank, Germany, until 2014.
