Biography

I obtained my Ph.D. in the lab of Prof. Paula Booth at Imperial College, London. In Paula’s lab I studied the effects of the inter-helical loops and lipid lateral pressure on the folding kinetics and stability of the seven transmembrane protein bacteriorhodopsin. After leaving Paula’s lab I moved to UC-Berkeley to postdoc in Tracy Handel’s lab. During that time I developed methods to express, purify and functionally reconstitute the chemokine receptor CCR1 for structural and functional studies. I moved to the Structural Biology group at Merck in PA in 2008, and in 2015 I left Merck to join Emerging Sciences & Innovation at Janssen. I love learning about and using new ways to answer difficult biology questions, and have a particular passion for membrane proteins. I’m currently in the Small Molecule Screening group at Janssen where I’m developing methods to identify and profile small molecules for drug discovery.
