Biography
McInnes, Ph.D. is a Professor in Medicinal Chemistry at the University of South Carolina, USA in Columbia where he has been for the last 11 years. He has over 20 years’ experience in Drug Discovery in both Industry and in Academia. Prior to joining USC he was the Head of Structure Based Drug Design at Cyclacel Pharmaceuticals, a company started by Professor Sir David Lane, one of the discoverers of the P53 tumor suppressor protein. His primary research interests are in developing methodology for improved targeting of protein-protein interactions and in applying this to the design of novel cancer therapeutics based on non-ATP competitive protein kinase inhibitors. Dr. McInnes has published over 50 research articles and contributed to many pharmaceutical patents. He is also the founding member of PPI Pharmaceuticals, LLC, a company started to commercialize therapeutics based on the aforementioned research.
