Biography
Erik Alexandersson is a Researcher in the Department of Plant Protection Biology in Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences. He is a plant molecular biologist studying the interaction between potatoes and pathogens as well as potato defense mechanisms both in the laboratory and in the field. He is also leading a project on biofortification of cassava.He is the director of PlantLink (www.plantlink.se), a collaboration between Lund University and SLU Alnarp to strengthen plant research in Southern Sweden.

Functional genomics and ‘-omics’ data in field trials – linking molecular data with environmental cues, field phenotypes ("Field-omics"); Induced resistance in potato varieties Transcriptomics and proteomics for biomarker discovery; Global gene expression in the late blight (Phytophthora)-potato interaction; Understanding plant defense in wild relatives to potato; Identifying potato late blight in the field with the help of drone-based image analysis (Vinnova FoodTech, EnBlightMe!); Biofortification of cassava for improved pro-vitamin A content (Swedish Reseaarch Council developmental reseach).
