Biography
Joakim Hjältén is a Professor in Animal Ecology (especially Plant-Herbivore Interaction and Conservation Biology), Department of Wildlife, Fish and Environmental Studies, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Umeå. He is the Founder and coordinator of the research group FOREST BIOCORE. More specifically,his focus is on evaluating and developing restoration methods for degraded habitats aimed at promoting species biodiversity. In 1996 he is appointed as an Associate professor (Docent) in Animal Ecology, Department of Animal Ecology, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Umeå. He completed his Ph.D.(1991) in Ecology, Department of Wildlife Ecology, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Umeå.
