Research Interest
My interest is therefore to try to understand how the precision and diversity of neuronal circuits are obtained. During fetal development, the body of the nerve cell often walks a long way to its final position and transmits its axon, the part of the nerve cell that transmits information to other nerve cells, to an exact target. These processes are fundamental to the organization and function of neuronal circuits. By studying spinal cord in mice and chicken embryos, I focus my studies on two main questions how neuronal circuits are merged, the molecular and cellular mechanisms that control: (1) How nerve cells migrate to their final position. (2) How axes reach their correct target cells.
