Biography
Lisbeth works as a senior professor within the field of educational research, in which her focus is upon pupils’ understanding of graphical representations, for example, graphs, charts and diagrams as well as of explanatory illustrations in primary-school teaching and learning. An additional research interest concerns dimensionality of large-scale tests. She was employed by the University of Borås in 2009. In the late 1990s, I took my PhD degree at the University of Gothenburg, whereupon she worked there as a senior lecturer, associate professor and later as a professor, until I took up a professorship at Mid Sweden University. She runs the research project Illustrations making meaning? Young pupils encountering explanatory pictures and models in science and mathematics education in primary school and pre-school financed by the Swedish Research Council. Her doctoral dissertation is titled Entering a graphicate society: Young children learning graphs and charts.
