Biography
Michael Schilsky is an Associate Professor at the Yale School of Medicine. He is the fellowship director for Transplant Hepatology and director of the Wilson’s Disease Association designated Center of Excellence for Wilson disease at Yale. He received his medical degree from the University of Chicago and completed his residency, fellowship and post-doctoral research at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center. He became a faculty member of the Division of Gastroenterology and member of the Liver Research Center at Einstein where he directed laboratory work on copper metabolism. In 1999, he served as director of the Liver Medicine Clinic and led a Wilson Disease clinic at Mount Sinai. In 2007, he joined the Center for Liver Disease and Transplantation at the New York Weill Cornell Medical Center where he developed a program for liver transplant and Wilson Disease patients. Dr. Schilsky coauthored the AASLD and EASL practice guidelines for Wilson disease and authored numerous original manuscripts, chapters and reviews on Wilson disease. He is a member of the NIH Sponsored Acute Liver Failure Study Group.
