Professional background: Joined the Ciba Group in 1978 and subsequently held various executive positions in the financial area in Switzerland, Brazil and the US. Former Chief Financial Officer at Ciba Specialty Chemicals, Inc., 1996–2007. Other activities and functions: Member of the Board of Directors of the listed company Sonova Holding AG and the unlisted company Hilti AG. Member of the Board of Trustees of the Martin Hilti Family Trust.
