Biography
Dr. Mauro Corsi, Ph.D. serves as Director of Assay Development and In Vitro Profiling department at the Aptuit Center for Drug Discovery & Development in Verona, Italy. Before becoming part of Aptuit in 2010, Dr. Corsi spent most of his career at Glaxo, GlaxoWellcome and GlaxoSmithKline. When he joined GSK in 1986, he worked in the laboratory of Molecular Pharmacology at GSK RTP (US) where he gained valuable experience in receptor pharmacology as applied to different projects. In this position, he also initiated research activity in the central nervous system. The pharmacological characterization of different and ovel receptors and ion channels systems was the objective of the work in those years. Dr. Corsi has gained a wide experience in the neuroscience area and has expert knowledge in coordinating projects in their progression towards clinical phases. He held prominent positions with GSK as Director of Neuropharmacology Research within the GSK Psychiatry Center of Excellence of Drug Discovery and as Director of the GSK Verona Biology Department. Dr. Corsi serves as a Member of Innovation Advisory Board at Aptuit LLC. He has been elected to a Fellowship of the British Pharmacological Society. He is member of the American Society for Neuroscience and the Italian Society of Pharmacology and is co-author of more than 90 publications in international journals/books. Dr. Corsi earned degrees in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technology (1984) and Pharmacy (1986) from the University of Palma. In 1988, he received a Diploma of Specialization in Experimental Physiology post Laurea from Milan University.
