Biography
Dr. Romano Di Fabio, Ph.D. serves as Scientific Director of the Drug Design & Discovery (DD&D) department based at the Aptuit Center for Drug Discovery & Development in Verona, Italy. Dr. Di Fabio is responsible for the internal management of the DD&D project portfolio and, as project leader, of some strategically important integrated drug discovery projects. He has more than 25 years experience in DD, both as line manager of medicinal chemistry units and as functional manager of DD, driving large DD portfolios. At the former GlaxoSmithKline Neurosciences Centre of Excellence for Drug Discovery (CEDD), he served as Director of Medicinal Chemistry where he managed an international medicinal chemistry department located both in Verona and Zagreb. In addition, he was a permanent member of the GSK Chemistry Council, representing European Medicinal Chemistry groups. He serves as Chairperson of Innovation Advisory Board at Aptuit LLC. Dr. Di Fabio serves as Member of Innovation Advisory Board at Aptuit LLC. He is the inventor and/or co-inventor of more than 40 patents. Dr. DiFabio has held several teaching appointments at universities where he has delivered master courses, and he has also taught at several specialist schools. For the last ten years, he has served as a permanent member of the organizing committee of the ESMEC (European School of Medicinal Chemistry). He is the author from bench to market: the evolution of the chemical synthesis and of more than 130 peer-reviewed research papers and over 50 reviews and abstracts. He has been a lecturer and participant in various industry and seminars. Dr. Di Fabio has a Ph.D. in organic chemistry.
